I hope they catch the culprits. It makes my blood boil when things like that are done.

Re: Town Centre Planters
Even more flower towers and hanging baskets have appeared in Accrington. They looked really fantastic today
Again, well done.

Re: Town Centre Planters
It's looking lovely now isn't it?
I noticed the ones in Huncoat (not sure how old they are) look more in proportion as they have smaller bottoms and also a bit of a gold band and the wording "Huncoat in Bloom" not to mention a nice plaque with a coat of arms. They look so much more finished off than plain black.
However, having said that the big black chunky ones are growing on me too now.

Re: Town Centre Planters
I spent a couple of hours over in accy today and was impressed by the site of the Roundabout and the baskets and planters, I also thought that Broadway look good with the gates, planters and pennants. The only down side was the litter down Broadway.
Question; If Mez could be spotted flicking a fag end out of her car window and fined for it, Why the hell are people allowed to litter Broadway without challenge, that goes for people gobbing in the street as well. Come HBC, you do have something to be proud of: now get your bloody act together.

Re: Town Centre Planters
We've just seen the ones round the war memorial in Ossy. They are like the ones in Church Street. It looks very colourful there.

Suprsingly hanging baskets should be watered everyday, whatever the weather.
The surface of the baskets is so small, cosidering how many plants are in there, that very little rainfall gets through all the foliage, no matter how much it rains. Plus they need more water than plants in the ground because there's more evaporation.

The real credit should go to the workers in the 'Parks and Gardens' dept, who are the ones who got their hands dirty doing it, for low pay.

I didn't think that was 'grouchy' - just wanted to let the people who actually did it get some credit for it
