Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
A pelican crossing near the Town Hall would help to solve that part of the problem - there you go - sorted!

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
Might this not be a suitable subject for a poll of opinion?

The existing access to the building is to be closed, but yes you may be correct about the 2 mini roundabouts

I wonder if they still do that in schools. I remember getting a visit off the Green Cross Code man who spent an afternoon showing us AWFUL videos of what happened when little boys and girls didn't know how to cross roads.

problem still there Willow, a pelican crossing would mean white zig zags & the mayors driver getting fined every time he parked on them when the mayor is on an official visit, perhaps the answer would be to elect a mayor that can actually walk a short distance or even one that wouldn't be too proud to use a bus!

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
Ah but you are forgetting Les - when Mr. Britcliffe has sold off the Town Hall the mayor won't need to go there any more.

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
would it be better to close blackburn road to traffic up to eagle streetclose the old bus station. and instead of trying to squeeze a new bus stationnear king street club, utilize the almost unused retail park on eastgate where only netto seem to manage to survive. the bus station would be very close to town, on a dual carriageway and the town centre could be a traffic free zone free of every tom dick and harry's old buses.

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
if i was in charge id knock all the towncentre shops down, then build a big bus station, and ban cars and pedestrians from the town centre. this would cut down on congestion and the risk of road accidents.

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
that might be a good idea as half the shops are empty and a good proportion of the others let to charity shops at a reduced rent

That sounds like an excellent location for a bus station and certainly ought to be big enough. It could have access from Park Street too.

Re: Traffic Lights for Town Hall
and the blackburn buses could turn left at the traffic lights, pass the cinema and bowling alley round the roundabout to eastgate traffic would flow more freely throughout the town.
