Transdev

got this from the Transdev office this morning

changes to the fares as of January 4th 2009

we are introducing revised fares from Sunday 4th January 2009, and below is a brief guide to the changes we have made

single and return fares will be increased as follows:

Fares up to £1.60 by up to 10p
Fares £1.70 to £2.90 by up to 20p
Fares £3.00 to £3.90 by up to 30p
Fares £4.00 to £4.90 by up to 40p
Fares £5.00 and above by up to 50p

1 day tickets

the price of spot on 1 day ticket will be held at the current rates of £4.00 for adults and £2.00 fr children

7 and 28 day tickets

Adult 7 day tickets have been increased by between £1 and £2 and 28 day tickets between £4 and £5. The child discount (for those ages between 5 and 15) hs been reduced from 50% to 40% on these tickets to reflect their use at our busiest times of the day.

.................................................. .....

Transdev know that they can charge whatever they want now for their fares because there is NO competition, by the end of 2009 they will own ALL the buses in east lancashire, we have no choice but to pay these stupid prices

from what the woman in the office was saying today kids will pay 3/4 of adult fares instead of half

scandalous

That means it's gonna be £1.90 from Clayton bottom end.
Thank goodness for the little red buses.

Re: Transdev

bloomin robbers..
this is why I cycle to work, keeps me fit and I have pockets full of cash..
I cycled to work last year and from feb (when bike was bought) to december 2008 I worked it out and had saved over £670 !
my bike cost me £500 so I was a £170 up on that, the bike paid for itself and I was fit as a fiddle...that and I like cycling anyway..
I really resent having to get the bus..

Re: Transdev

Has transdev just bought everyone out, or what happened to all the different ones that we had? I know they bought Blackburn transport, and already had lancashire way?

Re: Transdev

I wonder how much involved the Council are with running the company though. It was supposed to be a totally seperate company owned by the council under the Transport Act of 1985.

Quite typical of Government ( Thatcher at the time ) the bus deregulation under the Transport Act excluded Greater London. SO it was a case of stuff up the Country except where we work

Re: Transdev

If they keep on buying other transport companies, then they must be making a lot of money, I would assume there is a regulatory body, if there is, then surely they should be comparing the mileage costs to other companies and taking notice if they are overcharging, I dont use buses, but it does sound expensive.

Rossendale borough council has 600 shares the chief executive of rossendale borough council has 1 share .... councillors sit on the board of rossendale transport.

They are putting their fares up as well on the 11th http://www.rossendalebus.co.uk/FARES110109.HTML

lol, I am surprised they are still going then. After all everyone voted in as Councillor will be a transport expert

I think it is good they are still council owned. What about subsidies? Do the Council subsidise some non profitable routes like in the old days?

I noticed the rates of pay on their website - 50p per hour extra for working on a Sunday.

Re: Transdev

Lancashire county council subsidise some routes ........ Dont think Rbc does. Its not all councillors on the board .. the managing director, transport director, some of the staff sit on the board as well.

I was on the bus the other day and a little old lady got on she was saying she has just been to the docs but forgot her bus pass .
Now she got on at the stop just outside the children's play place Oscar bear is it ?
The driver said she would have to pay the fare and charged 76p from there to town
