Travel with confidence?

Yesterday I traveled by train from Blackburn to Southampton.6 16 a.m. Blackburn to Bolton,6.54 Bolton to Manchester Piccadilly. These trains were run by Northern Rail and because they were pretty quiet they gave me no particular concern about cleanliness.plus I had my hand sanitizer with me.Then I boarded the 7.27 a.m. Crosscountry Bournemouth train and took my reserved seat.Everything looked fine and the journey began.
Across from me was a double seat with a table occupied by one person. At Stoke
this person left and the seats were vacant till Stafford and were then occupied by a mother and child. They stayed till Oxford. At Banbury a single occupant came on board till Basingstoke and was then occupied by a mother and two children to Southampton.
There was a cleaner on the train who only picked up rubbish, not once was any surface cleaned in 4 hours.
Travel with confidence- don`t think so.https://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/coronavirus#top

Have you ever thought about taking responsibility for your own health and safety? Or did you assume that your personal health and safety was down to someone else?

Did you speak to the cleaner and ask for the area to be cleaned? Or did you sit quietly putting yourself at risk whilst posting to social media about the failings of others?

I started this thread Guinness as a bit of travel advice. The above drivel deserves it`s own thread of which you would become the main contributor, sadly.

How many people set forth with a cloth or anti bac wipes in their bag....oh yes...that’d be me.

And you assume that the poster could see /speak to a cleaning operative.

I don’t know about trains, but on the buses, they get on at different places.....do their wiping down, jump, off again and get on another bus...often going in the opposite direction.

I took this post as a ‘heads up’ information thing more that a complaint.

Also Stevie R stated that he had his hand sanitiser and that he was not concerned for his safety

If a company providing travel, says they are doing things to keep travellers safe, then they should be SEEN to be doing it.

See, this is why I'm a polar bear bully & treehugger, nut cutlet brigades worst nightmare I drive a diesel Transit van with just me in it when I go places, if I can't drive there I don't go there.

The last time I was on public transport was a run into Münich on the S-Bahn, back in the Summer of 2016!

Re: Travel with confidence?

I have not been on public transport since this situation went South.
It is not that I do not want to go on public transport...I would just love to skip off the Southport or Lytham, but I do not wear a mask......and do not want to be confronted by those who do wear masks.

Come the day that these are cast off...if it ever comes....then I will be on the bus toot sweet....or even sooner.

Child labour is good for the planet, they don't eat their way through as much as the equivalent adult slave labourer and are an excellent substitute for those gas guzzling machines used in western mines.

Nail on the head twice there Margaret.Info and accountability.

My conclusion so far is that Avanti have the travellers welfare needs looked after and Guinness in his cabal of one,is the guy everyone swerves down at the pub.
