I will second that good food and plenty of it and the prices are good too.

A friend of mine suffers from arthritis, due to which doing shoe laces and belt buckles up is difficult for him.

He turned up at the Calder the other week dressed in tracksuit bottoms and wearing Velcro fastening trainers, he was refused entry because of dress code.
Even after explaining his reasons no way could he get in.

His friend that was with him was allowed in,

HE was wearing a dirty set of overalls and scruffy steel toe capped boots, does this make sense?
I think if someone was to be violent in a pub I would rather they allowed the guy in trainers in, they at least would hurt less than steel toe caps!

Re: Trying to eat at The Calder

What a dump this place has become. It used to be busy on Saturday lunchtimes. There were only about 20 people in yesterday. Despite that, it took half an hour to serve a jacket potato - and it was cold when it arrived. Filthy tables too.

Massively overpriced for what appears to be microwaved food. BBQ Ribs & Chicken was vastly disspointing. Chicken was just a lump of chicken, no seasoning or anything... I don't like peas that much, nor would I put them with BBQ Ribs... oh well.

Closing this thread as it is no longer open.

I've moved some posts about it now open as Varsity to a new thread. Not fair to discuss the new pub in the old thread
