please don't tell me that 'Bib and Braces' are a fashion statement the only folks who should be wearing them are guys collecting slops for the local pig bins
tho I suppose they are a better alternative to having your jeans hanging halfway down your backside and showing the world next weeks laundry

Is it common in the US to only change your under wear once a week or are you an exception?

If you mean change as in turn them inside out on Wednesday, but of course. Pretty gross to wear em unturned all week!

Brian , don't get going on suspenders , suspenders in the UK are usually bought at places like Victorias Secret , the idea of a farmer wearing suspenders under his dungarees is not something that an innocent like me cares to think about

(what the British call suspenders , Americans call a garter-belt,
and what you call suspenders the British call Braces )

Trust a Yank to get wrong ... overalls means over all ... get it ? and dungarees don't do this, do they ?

Thought they might come from 'dung' .. summat to do with muck, then I boringly googled the word and seems originally from a Hindu word 'Dungri' meaning course cotton which was exported from India to England in the 18th century. Was originally used for sails and tents, but then working clothing for sailors and eventually into the style we know with two syllables added .. because I suspect us British don't like too many words ending in a vowel... always sounds foreign like..

Thanks for the lesson, and better for the whole Victoria Secret correction! So, I was referring to the bib and braces thing then. I only wear the blue jeans. These were originally developed by Levi Straus for Gold miners.

Tuck my shirt in? No way. For me it is a fashion statement: I'm a cultivated slob.

Geez Katex, I never said the bloke invented denim just that he made it into blue jeans! Also, I don't believe California was part of the US at that time anyway. Hence, I wasn't claiming some diabolical pro-American plot to take credit for creating denim or any other such stuff.
