My father reckons that the government should pay for him to have new equipment when they turn off the analogue transmitters.

I told him he should pay for it - TV is a luxury, after all

Though i heard on the news about anaologue is that due to last another 7 years yet as many people haven't crossed over to cable/digital.

Oooh a point but i dont think its the ariels just the analogue signal altho freeview boxes require a good ariel to recieve it.

So does freeview come through your ariel as analogue or digital ...sorry im confussed. I was going to buy another freeview box this xmas for my son as well ....

If your ariel & reception are fine on freeview then you are fine, its just when the ITV digital came out many people were told to get their ariel upgraded.
