United Utilities

There's me peacefully surfing Accy Web when there's a knock on the door, its a guy from United Utilities who asks me if he could take water samples for quality purpose. Being the obliging kind of person that I am I agree, so out come the little bottles, big bottles and chemicals and he started take sample, testing for chloride was one, the mete reading was 2.6 what ever that means, but at least they are checking on our water quality

Re: United Utilities

Are you sure you weren't being 'cased' - did you ask for ID?

Why didn't he sample from the supply in the little grates there are about

Margaret, do you honestly think that jaysay wouldn't ask for his I.D. card, even so I watch him all the time and had to sign a form to say that he had been and what the time and date was

Re: United Utilities

I have had the sample test twice, about 2 months ago,and about 3 years ago just to prove that we have the "purest" water in the world and I have had some very dodgey bottled water abroad.

Talking about Bottled water I use it all the time, I buy a couple of half litre bottles every month, then refill them every day or twice a day sometimes I only drink water, may have an occasional coffee at week ends but that's it, this statement doesn't include alcohol which I also consume in copious amounts at weekends too

Re: United Utilities

I fitted a filter system at my sink. Filtered water costs me the price of one filter a year - about £20. There is a lot of chlorine in our water. I can smell it when I run a bath.

Re: United Utilities

United Utilities have been doing these doorstep sample tests for quite a long time. They've been to me twice in about 15 years - maybe because we're nearby (10 miles away) so it's easier.

I'm happy to use tap water for cooking etc. and used filtered tap water for the kettle and to add to squashes etc., only because our water can sometimes taste of TCP. I drink bottled water but the reason I buy it bottled is because I like it fizzy. It's 27p per 2 litre bottle from Sainsburys and I drink about a litre a day. This is all a matter of preference, though. I'm happy with the purity of our tap water.

So did you fill a little bottle, or a big bottle, for him?
