If non Oxbridge colleges, like Manchester and Birmingham, are called 'red brick universities', what will these new ones be known as, 'asbestos'?

I think it'd be a crying shame if blackburn had a university because the HE building at blackburn college has decent staff but has Lancasters name on the actual degree, so having a brand new university with its own degree's would only be a down grade to what they currently have.
As for burnley... pfft!

Manchester is actually one of the best universities in the country since the merge.

It has been for a very long time, as have many of the others.
The term 'red brick universities' was a term coined in the 1850's, and refers to Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Leeds.
They were founded as non-collegiate colleges, open to all, regardless of background, or religion...and as long as you had a winky.

Like i said at the beginning of this tread.. i was planning to do my degree at Burnley. How else would i be able to do my degree? If a uni is opened around here then i would go.
