If non Oxbridge colleges, like Manchester and Birmingham, are called 'red brick universities', what will these new ones be known as, 'asbestos'?

Isn't gun chewing dangerous? Sounds like the sort of thing Bullseye Barb would be into when she gets nervous

I think it'd be a crying shame if blackburn had a university because the HE building at blackburn college has decent staff but has Lancasters name on the actual degree, so having a brand new university with its own degree's would only be a down grade to what they currently have.

As for burnley... pfft!

It has been for a very long time, as have many of the others.

The term 'red brick universities' was a term coined in the 1850's, and refers to Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Leeds.

They were founded as non-collegiate colleges, open to all, regardless of background, or religion...and as long as you had a winky.
