University that allows guns
BBC - Newsbeat - The P Word - University where it's 'legal to carry guns'
Now picture this your a teacher standing in front of the class and someone takes exception to what your saying. Would you like to be used as a target practice?
I would have thought that america with all the shootings in colleges and schools would have banned guns/firearms from them.

It's said that there could have been less deaths at Virginia tech if everyone was allowed to carry guns.

That is the problem, how do we get from where we are to no guns? The government spent a fortune buying all the legally traceable guns from people. Since then gun crime has rocketet.
What a major mistake that was.

The second ammendment is not as clear and unequivocal as some Americans choose to believe (Barb comes to mind) ... they lay stress on the second part "... the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." That seems quite clear, altho' some argue that the capital "P" on "People" seems to suggest collectivity rather than individual Americans. It is the first part of the ammendment that causes problems. "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state ..."
Now, considering that it is difficult to move around on the world's oceans without bumping into a Nimitz class carrier or two, this would seem to be redundant, unless the arms are to be used against their own govt. Which a lot of people in the boonies of America believe.
Anyhow, articles of the Bill of Rights are all open to interpretations by lawyers ... The Ninth Ammendment, for example,(along with the Fourteenth) was used by the Supreme Court in their decision on abortion (Roe vs Wade, I think)

Re: University that allows guns
Eric, as per usual, gets it wrong. The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are SUCH an impediment to lefties - as we see repeatedly. There is no doubt that the Second Amendment is an individual right because the Bill of Rights was crafted specifically to protect the rights of the individual against the encroachment of government. In addition, one need only read the writings of the founders, (and we have a wealth of letters and documents on this and other subjects), to know exactly what they meant.

Isn't that exactly what the founders mean when it comes to the 2nd amendment? They were fearful that rights could be taken by the Government. If the government take your rights, then what's the point in there being a government? For your liberty is being invaded by the sovereign itself. Therefore allowing guns prevented that from happening.
