I actually think it sounds like it could be a great idea.

What does a ploughed field there look like?

Re: Vertical farms? what will they think of next?

personally i think it sounds nuts, but would still be worth taking it from virtual concept to reality to see. could be possible.

It could provide fresh food in areas where arable land is scarce so I think it's a worthwhile idea. Maybe the start of something that could lead to colonisation of the moon?

Cool Re: Vertical farms? what will they think of next?

What a great idea but it will be expensive and that will reflect in the prices of the produce. But what about sunlight? Crops need sunlight to thrive.

Sooner or later gated communities will probably adopt the scheme as yet another way to insulate themselves from us rabble. Who lives in gated communities? Er! Those with the money.

Now can they do something similar for meat?

This is not a good idea ... it would mean that we could have more humans on the planet .... more humans is not a good idea .... Colonies on the moon? Humans in outer space, an even worse idea. If god had taken more than one day off ... if he was unionised he would only have to have worked 40 hours ... the world would be a better, healthier, saner, human-free place.

That article mentioned 'small livestock' - I suppose they will be better off than in cages, but they may have tendency to disappear whilst running in circles

We seem to be getting more humans on the planet anyway. I wonder when we'll reach saturation point?
