Vibrating siren?

BBC NEWS | UK | England | Hampshire | Vibrating siren tested by doctors

I dont know how people can not hear or see an ambulances siren ... I can be sat in my house with the telly on or music going, the windows and doors shut and i can still hear the sirens further on down the road down towards baxenden and if im talking on msn to spug he can hear them as well so why need a siren that sends out waves to make a car vibrate? Plus as you get told when learning to drive if an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you pull in when its safe to do so ... if you are stuck at a roundabout what can you do ...

Re: Vibrating siren?

well since the police nicked somone for going through a red light to make way for an ambulance the 999 people now advise not to do it

as for roundabouts people usually pull up onto teh kerb or embankment if possible to make way

my advice is dont have a heart attack between 3pm and 6pm or your pretty much buggered

as for vibrating sirens i think my ex has one that runs on batteries because i occasionaly used to get in from work and hear buzzing and woooo woooo woooo coming from upstairs

Re: Vibrating siren?

The modern sirens on ambulances are crap.

If your in the car you just cannot tell where the heck it is coming from.

I wish they went back to the old bells

Re: Vibrating siren?

they need to be louder to compete with todays in car stero systems , i often dont hear them at all but the flashy blue lights do teh job at alerting me lol

No the tickers okay, as yet but I'll keep you posted, or just do a Jacko

I was mentioning the poor sods from Burnley cuz they have to be shunted all the way to Blackburn, just a tad dodgy between 3 and 6pm lol
