There are apparently lots of seats where people who were queueing, and who were denied their right to vote, and there may be subsequent legal challenges in some constituencies.
In London, voting after work, you did always have to wait in a queue, but this was about seven o'clock. You'd have to be a bit daft to turn up at 9.55, and not realise you might have trouble. You'd think the polling stations being opened for 15 hours would be long enough for us all to vote.

It does seem quite amazing, Running out of voting cards, doors being shut with people inside allowed to vote, (A lock in), doors not being shut and people voting ten minutes after time, even people entitled turned away because the area's polling register hadn't been up dated, an interesting few days are on the way, maybe we'll be going to vote again sooner than we thought?
Oh, no more political threads on accyweb!

Justheard that in some places that there werent event any voting cards left. I think its disgraceful
Unbelievable Stuff like this is only supposed to happen in banana replublics, Zimbabwe, and countries under American occupation. And this in the country which "invented" modern democracy
wonder how many of these places which were turning folks away were being staffed by council employees employed under positive discrimination rules/laws
Hahaha!!! nice one Garinda
Seriously though the more thats coming out the more i cant believe it, Its gone from not being allowed to vote after 10 (aceptable ) to no voting cards and now staffing probs,
Although it was 'rush hour', I suppose, the polling station was quite busy when I went.
It was heartening to see five young lads, excitedly casting their first votes.
Be interesting to see the turn-out, after all the apathy and anger we earlier had re: the expenses scandal.
hee hee would you believe my son Ben was one of those excitedly casting his first vote (not one of the five young lads of course) and came home and proudly told me who he voted for... and like yourself he went for two different choices when it came to council vote and MP vote, he had looked at the issues they all stood for.
very proud mum

I know this may come as a shock but believe it or not all views I may air on here are my own work!!!!!
just heard that a 16 year old recieved a polling card, and went and voted (twas on GMTV).....what a sham, i hope they won't count his vote, he aint old enough
There is no excuse if you could not be bothered to turn up and vote until closing time. This is typical of a lot of people these days, believing that rules do not apply to them.
Just watching the BBC form a hotel at Paris Orly, (almost home), they are just discussing Gordon and will he hang on. I would not be surprised if he tries even though the majority of people in the country have decided they don't want him.
