Try this link to one of staggeringmans threads Easter Saturday
It might be just the job & there will be a cold drink available afterwards.

Ah bless you live near me, so I suggest the Coppice before anythings built on it, or Priestly Clough. Get on at Victoria St and up as far as the Five Arches, onto Hollins Lane then through either Haworth or Oak Hill Park. Should take an hour or so.

After alot of complaints from the druggies etc. the animals had to be removed because unlike the flowers they weren't as easy to light , when you're up there for a smoke!

Bit far from the hospital, [but you could get the bus and get off at Ossy Town Hall,] but Foxhill nature reserve is magnificent today. Good paths, lots of wild spring flowers and you might see the kingfisher, along with the other birds. Foxhill pub serves good ale afterwards, or l'll be serving cream teas from 4pm onwards!

Re: walking/rambling

There are some organised walks connected to the Hyndburn Healthy heart group. I'm not sure if they've got any written copies of the routes. Unfortunately they all start from Exchange Street but they do take in footpaths etc which people may not otherwise consider walking. I'll see if they've got anyting on paper about where they go because all are circular routes rather than a straight there and back which I think makes them more interesting.

Have you thought of walking along the canal bank? When I worked in Clayton-le-Moors I quite often did that. I realise it isn't close to the hospital but as someone previously suggested you could always get a bus to your starting point. (Canal bridge at Clayton for example)

Re: walking/rambling

Once you get as far as the Griffin, don't stop. Continue right around the roundabout and turn left across from the Hapton Inn. Go down that street and follow the signs for the picnic site. Follow the road round and you will end up back near the Griffin Pub. Sorry i don't know any of the street/road names. It's a nice walk, done it myself a few times.

Trouble is, if you go in a pub you might not finish the walk.
