Fancy a career in the Police Force? No problem, provided that you are Black, Asian or Female.

Any white males that want to enlist must get to the back of the queue and wait for up to three years unless they speak Urdu or belong to an Ethnic Minority Community Association!

Yet again, the blame does not lie with Blacks/Asians, it is beurocracy that now dictates that 7.7% of Britains 150,000 officers need to be from an ethnic minority by the year 2009 and woe betide any force that has not got the required percentage by then.

To assist, ethnic minority applicants are being "fast-tracked" through training at the expense of white applicants

I am sure we all understand the need for representatives from all minority groups in the Police Force but what has happened to natural selection?

This is yet another brainstorm that will encourage racism and anger!

So if you are 15, white and want a career in the Police Force, learn Urdu....and get a sun tan!

so if a white male gets refused a job as a police man can he goto the european courts of human rights and claim racial descrimination or whatever the name of the courts are

even if he could i doubt mrs blair would defend him as theres no publicity in defending white peoples rights

whatever happened to earning your way into a job i would like to think that a police officer was chosen for his ability to do the job rather than his colour of skin

anyway shhhh folks its racist to complain about been a victim of racism

It must be a bit degrading for anyone from one of the "minority groups" too because they'll wonder if they only got the job because of who they are rather than their ability to do it.

maybe they should employ more blind people as they can sit the guide dog on the car roof and teach it to bark once for left and twice for right

maybe also they should recruit from the mentaly ill and get them to hang out of the car window screaming meee moww meeee mow and save on the cost of police sirens

Don't forget all these anti-PC stories come from The Mail on Sunday, and it's stable mate The Daily Mail.

The same people that printed the story that women over 40 shouldn't wear jeans.

There is a political bias going on here, as Rothermere and Paul Dacre are the only two old school Tories left in the British press, and since they don't have much to celebrate love uncovering these little stories for our delictation.

Quite so Chav. I would be more critical of other newspapers which do not enlighten us to these ridiculous situations which are not in the least trivial.

Hey Mani, maybe they'll let you drive a squad car! You can tell them you've had plenty of practice driving. The when they recruit you you can give preferential treatment to AccyWebbers. Maybe we could get a police escort when we go on outings.

Seriously though Mani, wouldn't you rather get a job knowing that you got it because you were the best man for the job rather than suspecting it could be just to fill a quota?

As a woman I'd hate to be employed as a "token female".
