It isn't justice if you killed someone, talk about getting off lightly. I struggle to understand how anyone of any age can be stupid enough to drink and drive, I also know that its not always the young ones that do it.

Oh yes I know that it isn't ALWAYS the young ones that drink and drive.....I think the statistics on that one would be 50/50.
But I do think the older you get the more common sense you get on the road. I know at 18 years old I would have been impressionable had my mates been in a car with me and that I would have been more inclined to SHOW OFF. But I think at 21 your more inclined to have some sense that showing off in front of your mates isn't as important as safety.

Re: whalley road closed off
There is a quite a difference between 18 and 21 granted Slinky, not inclined to hang around with a 'bunch' anymore, just a few selected friends, possibly a regular girl-friend, and more in a position to afford the insurance and respect the money you are earning. There would still be quite a high risk I think from 21 > 24 as still have to gain experience of anticipation, etc., and this factor causes quite a lot of the road accidents.
Also, could put the British Army in a very difficult position, need our soldiers to be able to drive I would think. ?
Hope all's well with those involved in this crash, and turns out to be just a hard lesson learned, but punishment will have to be levied on the driver obviously if proved was over the limit or driving too fast. Very sad for the parents here too.

I think by the time you get to 21 life has taught you that little bit more and sensibility kicks in.

I really don't think this is true.
It's just a massive generalisation of teenage drivers, of which the majority are very safe.
Of course there's idiotic drivers, but age has nothing to do with it - there's idiots in every age bracket.

very true shaker, but statistically younger males 17-24 are at a higher risk of being in an accident... saying that sometimes I think its more to do with when you pass your test too and it could be that most young males pass their test at the younger age.
We know someone who passed their test lot later and is just as bad
