if that was the case the insurance premiums dont agree with it shaker, sure theres idiots in every age bracket, just a damn sight MORE of em the younger the bracket.

Re: whalley road closed off
Ok, fair enough, but what I really mean is what would raising the age limit do?
It's always going to be the lowest end of the bracket most at risk of being involved in accidents, so surely it's down to the people making the tests to make sure people get more road practise instead of just learning what road signs mean!

Re: whalley road closed off
not in favour really of raising the age limit, take the view if yer old enough to fight n vote for yer country then you can sure as hell drive. think the answer more likely lies in the severity of sentance if caught - but theres more chance of hell freezing over than that happening.

I have just been told that the young man who was travelling in the boot of the car died this afternoon. My thoughts are with his family. R.I.P.

Re: whalley road closed off
if this is true margaret, then my thoughts are with his family
but its just a shame that something like this had to happen, when are these kids going to realise that its not just them who could loose there life but their family's life is also ruined, i for one would be devastated if i lost my son, especially to a drunk driver!! these kids have to get in their heads that they destroy people lives !!!!

Re: whalley road closed off
Oh that's awful. That driver will have his friend's death on his conscience for the rest of his life. It's his poor parents I feel sorry for now. They must be devastated.
Raising the age limit for drivers wouldn't necessarily solve things. A lot is down to experience too. If someone learns to drive at 18 by 21 they have 3 years experience but if they learn at 21 then they won't have that experience until they are 24.

Beg to differ, they actually do get u to do a lot more than that - even be psychic in some cases [aka reading other drivers minds] its not that easy to pass your test, well my case not, & now they have included hazard perception tests [which are harder than it seems], road signs are the easiest bit LOL!
The hardest thing u do is pass your test then it goes down hill from then on because lazy habits creep in.
