So we are getting reemed with course sand paper then. Better not complain too much or we will end up being charged based on the amount we bin which will be bad news for people with families.

I find the same thing Granny.I live at the end of the terrace, and have painted my door number in white on the side of the bin, but the idiots still put my bin three doors up the entry.

Nope tin washing isn't for me either, any tin that needs washing doesn't go for re-cycling, I'm not wasting good clean water washing something that when re-cycled goes into a furnace, (if that doesn't remove the contents nothing will).
During that hot spell a few weeks ago though I did have quite a few of those little tiny flies that you sometimes see in pubs, couldn't understand where they were coming from 'til I accidentely kicked my blue box, swarms of them hit the air, they were breeding in the bits left in my old beer cans, so blue box now kept outside.
I must admit I've only got half way through transferring the contents of my blue box to the back yard, I've come over all tired.

Re: What a cheek!!!
You put your cans in the blue box? We were told the blue box is only for glass and to put our cans in the bag with the plastic bottles.
I think the washing out of cans has more to do with not enticing rats into your backyard than it has to do with the recylcability of the mucky can.

Yes Willow the blue box, that's where they said cans should go when I first got it and although I have heard that some people got letters saying cans in the blue sack I haven't had a copy and my blue sack has instructions about what plastic they want and what they don't want in it, so until they refuse to take plastic in the sack and tins in the box that's the way they will get them and they had better feel grateful that I do that! The day they send me a letter telling me I'm a naughty boy for doing it this way is the day everything goes in my wheelie bin! There's plenty of room in there for everything!

Re: What a cheek!!!
According to HBC we don't have a garden so we don't have garden waste. I don't know what that thing in front of the house with a tree in it is but HBC reckon it isn't a garden.

Re: What a cheek!!!
I don't have a garden either. I have 4 rosebushes and a large Ivy and lots of soil in my back yard but it doesn't qualify as a garden
I reckon that it would qualify if it happened to be in a higher council tax band area...

Or if having a garden put you into a higher band?

Re: What a cheek!!!
I don't wash any of my re-cycling waste out either. All my garden waste goes in the wheelie bin. Does somebody have to separate the plastic bottles from the cans?

Re: What a cheek!!!
Well me and my big mouth. No sooner have I made a sarcastic comment about "a little jobsworth sneaks around with the official bin rooter to see what you have" than they are in the buckets having a rummage this morning and TAKING NOTES about the content. Wouldnt be bad but we dont have bins etc for stuff to be recycled. Just waiting for the letter now saying we must recycle but as the kids keep burning the bins and the council and police not giving a blue tit then I cant win.
