What changed your life?

As any one thing changed your life, or altered it significantly?
I've mentioned before how my Diana story resulted in my wage doubling overnight, which made a big difference to the quality of my life. l could afford my mortgage again, and have holidays!

Yesterday l had a great day at Manchester University on a course because of the Parkinson's Disease Society, something l never dreamed l'd have been doing a couple of years ago.

I' m still waiting for that special someone to change my life though!

Come on, what's the most important thing to shape your lives, you know l'm nosey? Share.

Sounds corny, but meeting David changed my life - VERY much for the better! - if I hadn't met him, I wouldn't have our house in Ossy, and I'd still be a miserable cow with my ex!

Re: What changed your life?

Awwwwww, you've made me feel all warm inside.

It's great to hear that meeting the love of your life, or finding yourself at 50, or bringing a new life into the world is so defining of who we are.
No one's said anything bad so far that's changed their lives, that's suprising but very positive, perhaps we are just a very pragmatic lot.

Re: What changed your life?

I've got quite a few turning points in my life. One was when I first married, then when I had my first child. That totally changes your life because priorities suddenly become totally different. Having someone so completely dependant on you is wonderful and yet a little scary.

Leaving my job was another. I used to think that Bank couldn't cope without me or me without it. Then I left and found that life didn't only go on but it was far pleasanter.

My late husband's death was another major change. If you'd asked me prior to that if I could have coped as a single parent I'd have said no but it's surprising what strengths you discover that you never knew you had.

Whether it seems like a good or bad experience at the time I think we learn and grow from all of them.

After Peter's death I never imagined I would meet anyone else who meant as much to me but then along came this coachdriving Busman guy and in a few weeks time we'll be changing both our lives yet again by getting married.

Re: What changed your life?

Thanks Willow. Like you death changed my life when my Dad died aged 51. It put things into perspective about how precious life is, although as much as we try it's impossible to live each day as if it's your life, unless we want to burn out, lol.
Never having had children it's interesting to read peoples experiences about that. It must be the most joyous and frightening change anyone can make to their lives,
