Re: What do I have to do?
It would probably mean doing away with one of the stalls in there though.
(oops KIPAX beat me to it)

Re: What do I have to do?
I would mean a hell of a lot more than one satll.. so it wont happen..
Your going round in circles.. market hall was discussed last time... read the old thread then come back with a new real idea thats been thought out... then we go to council and put it to them.....
move a few stalls and put in market hall... just makes us look like idiots..

Re: What do I have to do?
Just thinking about it................................................ .................................................. .................................................. ..............yes it would work, without moving any stalls, and therefore loss of revenue.
It's hardly Big Ben, and the base isn't exactly massive.

Re: What do I have to do?
Best place for it is where is was in the first place but we had to have a stupid open air under cover cafe where people can smoke in a smokeless zone.

Re: What do I have to do?
How would you fit it in without moving stalls Rindy? Have you got a cunning plan?

Re: What do I have to do?
I'd rather have it in the foyer of the bloody Town Hall than gathering dust under the Arndale.
At least the people that go into the visitor's centre would see it as they entered by the front door.
Hopefully it's locked at night?
As an optomist, theres always an answer if you look.

Without seeing plans, right in the middle of the place there is room at the cross roads of two aisles, like I said if you remenber the base isn't all that big, it's top heavy.
I'd make it work. I don't give in by the fact that it may not work. It would be a great focal point there as well.

Re: What do I have to do?
Town Hall doesn't sound like such a bad idea failing all else. Better than it just rotting away forgotten about.................but what would PB say to that?

No negativity makes us look like idiots, and not utilising something that we have, and have paid for, and isn't being used.

It had a sort of garden thingy around the base which I assumed was to stop it being top heavy. Would the top get in the way of the tops of the stalls? (or vice versa). I bet no-one from the council has done any measuring. If they really wanted it up they would have.

Re: What do I have to do?
If some dobbin in planning had any foresight,it could have been incorporated into the outdoor market as well, which again is locked at night.
It still might, has the height been checked? I SUSPECT NOT.

Re: What do I have to do?
Only only problem with the arndale clock was if they did different things inside the globe when it opens & replaced some of the figure cos they looked a bit worn but other than that kids upto the clocks removal loved to stop to see it
