Re: What Do You Spend ££££ On Food At Xmas.

Will start the stocking up in a week or so as work will stop me getting anything done. Mind you looking forward to 5am dashes around the supermarkets. The only time people do not stand and natter.

I also tend to go overboard at Christmas on shopping. I tend buy a lot of snacks and of course differant cheeses as well as plenty of booze and wine. Also very rarely have puddings so i tend to buy a few of these, just in case.

Re: What Do You Spend ££££ On Food At Xmas.

I save a little on my Asda card and at Christmas that's what I have to spend on extra goodies for the children mostly.
Like Lettie I havn't cooked a Christmas dinner for years coz I have been at work.
Our Christmas Day is Christmas Eve when all the Family come over.
We are eating the remains for days has well has the Children being forced to take some with them.
I hate the run up to Christmas but I do Love Christmas Eve once everyone is installed in my Kitchen.
Christmas is a time were I feel so sad and yet so happy at the same time .

Re: What Do You Spend ££££ On Food At Xmas.

Since I was widowed I don't cook a Christmas dinner, as such, any more. My daughter and granddaughter, who live with me, are fish-eating vegetarians and I'm not fond of turkey so we just have a nice fish, maybe salmon, on Xmas Day. On Boxing Day it has become tradition that all my children, grandchildren and I go to one of the local pubs for lunch then I do a buffet for the evening. I admit to buying delicacies I wouldn't normally buy for this meal and I always make a trifle laced with port and brandy (not for the faint-hearted). We all love cheeses and savoury things so I have to get plenty of those. We also have a Christmas cake that isn't! Nobody likes icing so I order a pecan/fruit cake from America. I also send these to my kids and to my brothers as Xmas presents - believe me they are scrumptious. And, of course, I get in a lot more wine and spirits than normal, Christmas Night is always spent playing daft board games as everyone gets more and more sozzled.

Christmas is a bit of a food-fest and I do spend a lot on food for just a few days but I use my nectar points at Sainsburys, which I collect all year. It's the one time of the year I have all my family around me at the same time and it's worth it.

Ooohh Christmas is a good excuse to go mad in the food and booze department, it's a time for massive over indulgence of everything in our house and i make no apologies for it I LOVE IT!!
