Re: What it means to be British..

Actually fella; it's a fact that the colonies are a large part of British past generations, thus making you a very foreign being indeed. Or...are you denying all knowledge of Blighty being the all conquering empire? hmm...well if the historians are lying they're dong it in style!

Re: What it means to be British..

I seem to remember being taught at the Top Council in Arrod that ,
Britain = England, Wales, Scotland .
Great Britain= England, Wales. Scotland and Ireland (north and south) , United Kingdom = England,Wales,Scotland and Ulster not sure where the Isle of Man belongs

whatever ....its just a couple of small islands off the coast of Europe

Re: What it means to be British..

The full title is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."

"The British Isles" = Scotland/England/Wales & Ireland (north and south) plus all the other little bits around the edges including the Isle of Man.

Does that help?

Re: What it means to be British..

All this confusion from a few little words. Does it matter what we call are selves or how we discribe the islands on which we live?

Re: What it means to be British..

I have given up trying to work it out. Would the Falklands be classed as British or a British territory?????

It did. Great Britain is ESW only. The United Kingdom is that of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The British Isles are the Islands of Britain & Ireland, irrespective of the political division on the latter.
