Re: What? Nobody mentioned The Airport!
some great creatures have become extinct .. sabre toothed tigers... to lose the polar bear would be a disaster.. a fantastic animal, I can't work out why we get so upset about losing giant pandas?.... they just seem to sit about all day munching on leaves..if they collected benifits they would be slammed as scroungers.... I'd bet that a polar bear would kick the tat out of a giant panda in a scrap!

Re: What? Nobody mentioned The Airport!
Of course the more observant of us will have noticed that carbon emissions have already dropped quite significantly due to certain facts.
We no longer have an industry based economy.
No one can afford gas, petrol or electricity.
Shops are closing at an alarming rate as are Pubs.
And just to prove I am doing my bit I have started putting tips in my roll ups.
The only hot air I can see is coming from the usual do-gooders camp.
At least we have still got the Bankers(hope I spelled that right)

Re: What? Nobody mentioned The Airport!
I can,t fathom why we {the 50/60/70s] generation should be accused of not doing our bit to clean up the air pollution problem. As I see it we did the most to clean up the air by changing the fuel we used, eg. north sea gas replacing coal gas and smokeless fuel replacing coal.

Re: What? Nobody mentioned The Airport!
When one of the ring leaders was asked why they targeted Britain, which is accountable for 0.8 of the world's pollution, and not somewhere like China, she replied that she'd probably be thrown in jail for a very long time.
Nothing like have principles is there?

I'd be more inclined to call them "plain stupid protesters" myself

Re: What? Nobody mentioned The Airport!
None from me, but then I am one of those people in the Aviation industry.
Just a small point, but I do wonder how much extra CO2 was emitted due to Aircraft having to Divert, Go Around and Hold during this demonstration?
I would have thought that the CO2 caused by the disruption would negate any that was saved by the action taken.
