What should Greg Pope do next?
Well, we all know by now Grag kicked off all the fuss with Gordon Brown over the 10p tax debacle. Whatever the detailed outcome of that will be, the government is now the most unpopular administration for the last 40 years. Well, public opinion is a fickle thing and a week is a long time in politics but if there is no change by the next election then Mr Pope will be out of a job and Hyndburn with Haslingden will be a Tory seat again. Well, Greg is not a bad lad as a constituency MP - he is certainly popular on here, irrespective of people's political preferences - so the question is this:- what strategy should do you thinkhe now adopt in order to keep his seat?

Re: What should Greg Pope do next?
Personally I feel he should carry on exactly as he is now.

Re: What should Greg Pope do next?
The closest I could vote was to become a rebel, but that is not exactly what I want... I just want him to stand by his beliefs... regardless of what anyone thinks of the govt I would vote for him if he didn't back down from what he had stood for

So he's voted out!
The last question on the poll should read "Retire into Annie's Bar for the rest of the parliament" (dodgy keyboard again).

Your opinion maybe, but personally I feel it depends on whether people vote on national party politics at the next election, or who they think will be the best representative at Westminster.
It also depends on who he stands against.
The rumoured Tory candidate would greatly increase Greg's chances of remaining as our M.P.

Even the local Tories wouldn't be so daft as to go for third time unlucky.
Apparently the local Conservative party want Janet Storey as their candidate, but Tory H.Q. are too thrilled with their choice.

By the way, she isn't offically the candidate, she was put forward when it looked like Brown may have called a General Election last Autumn, and the local Tories were flappling around in a panic, without any suitable opponents to stand against Greg Pope.

Re: What should Greg Pope do next?
I don't think it helps the Labour party if it's members leave just because of a little controversy, he should stand his ground and stick by his beliefs. But if not then he should go Tory just for a laugh.

Re: What should Greg Pope do next?
It's reported in today's Sunday Times that both Greg and Frank Fields were invited to Alistair Darling's office for tea on Tuesday.
Somehow I don't think you can quell rebellions with cucumber sandwiches and Earl Gray.
By the way, why was there no option for Greg to challenge Brown for the Premiership?
It'd be fun to have a P.M. from Hyndburn.

It's multiple choice, hence why the boxes for selection are square instead of circles. Think it tells you that before you vote though.
