Whatever happened to.....?????
Sometimes celebrities/one hit wonders just seem to fall off the radar - so whatever happened to ....
Mick Robinson and Tony Bastable from Magpie?
Una Stubbs
Bros
Chaka Khan
Scritti Politti (some of you might never have come across this band but Uncle Mick knows who I'm talking about)?
So, who else would you be curious about and do you know the whereabouts of any of the above?

Re: Whatever happened to.....?????
Not sure about the whereabouts of the others but Bros, the twins live in LA i think and one of them is an actor and was in Blade 2, wasn't bad either, think the other is still writing music, I remember Scritti Politti but dont know what the're upto these days, sure I say Una Stubbs on tv not long ago.
I would be interested to know what quite a few 80's pop groups are upto now, I think only really to see if the're doing really mundane jobs now.
The Thompson Twins
Pete Wylie
Sigue Sigue Sputnik (not sure thats spelt right!)

Now were talking.....
www.sputnikworld.com
www.petewylie.com
I still go and see Wylie, he played in Blackburns North bar a few years ago and also tours as part of Dead Men Walking, with Mike Peters, Glen Matlock, Kirk Brandon amongst others. Wylies always a good night out and has a new album out "Pete Sounds" in the new year. And If you find his Songs Of Strength And Heartbreak album in a bargin bin somewhere, grab it ..It`s excellent!

Well grannyclaret you may be interested in www.continuity-booth.co.uk which lists all BBC and ITV continuity announcers. Does anyone remember Granadas Colin Weston who always appeared to be drunk over Christmas and did you know Stan Ogden used to be a continuity announcer!!

Re: Whatever happened to.....?????
I remember all the ones you mention, Grannyclaret. Wasn't Jennifer Gaye the daughter of a famous conductor? (Orchestra, not bus ). I think it may have been Sir Hugo Rignold.
I know MacDonald Hobley died some years ago and so did Mary Malcolm. Funnily enough there was something about Sylvia Peters (the other lady presenter) in today's Express, remember her?
One of my favourites as a child was Humphrey Lestoq who fronted a children's programme called "Whirlygig", with a dreadful string puppet called Mr Turnip. I though HL was wonderful and so-o-o-o handsome! I know he was an actor and appeared a lot on the West End stage (that's London, not where I was born ) but I never heard of him after about 1955. He had been a RAF fighter pilot in the war so if he's still alive he'd be at least in his 80s.

Re: Whatever happened to.....?????
The actor who played Stan Ogden was quite handsome when he was younger and spoke beautifully. I think his name was Bernard Youens.
Whirlygig was on every Saturday tea-time and Peter Butterworth was in the programme, with Humphrey Lestoq. It was rubbish compared to what kids watch these days but I loved it, even on a 9" black and white TV screen in a cabinet the size of a small sideboard.
