Re: whats the point
it is funny when you annoy mr beard as he gets so annoyed (st chrisis) once me literally drag someone out of the room and he was totally tomato red in the face when he came back in and the kid came back in shouting "im getting you done" so mr beard chased vhim all the way down the corridor. we were on the floor laughing.

What is it with R.E teachers and not being able to control their pupils, we had two at MOORHEAD and hey both could'nt. Mrs. lavar and her technicolour jumpers and guitar, my Mcaffrey that we could'nt work out if he was homosexual or giving Mrs.lavar one.
But we had a history teacher called Mr. clayton now you would'nt mess with him, I have never come across such a stern person in my life, but I actually learned thing in the lesson because of it.
French teacher was soft had her crying alot of times. She was called Mrs. williamson, used to go and get her husband to sort us out, who was just down the corridor teaching art (also a stern man, but not as bad as mr.clayton no-way)
Then for business studies we wigfield (sorry Mrs chippendale) had her cying a few times.
Then the other french teacher MISS PARKINSON, now I have never come across such a nervous person (suppose we made it worse).
It made me chuckle the other day though, the french teacher mrs. williamson must have had it bad, because she is now a care assistant for an agency that our work place used last week, when she walked in I nearly died (but chuckled and thought mmmmmm gonna get your husband on me if I make you cry now)hehehehehehehe

Re: whats the point
History teaches us where we came from and how we arrived at the situation we are currently in. It helps us to understand who we are and how we relate to the rest of the world. I'm surprised at the lack of historical knowledge young people today have.
I'm not sure where I stand regarding R.E. If it's a generalised subject where children are taught about the various religious beliefs of different people then I think it's as valid as any other subject such as geography. I do have qualms when it comes to teaching one set of religious beliefs unless of course we're talking about a church school in which case you'd expect Catholicism to be taught in a Catholic school etc.

Re: whats the point
RE is a waste of time at secondary school. If you havn't learnt moral values by then, you don't have a cat in hells chance of learning them anyway (Even tho Mrs.Atherton at Mount Carmel was a great teacher \o/)
This the same Luke that went to St marys ossy? This is Andrew if you remember me..

Re: whats the point
How to copy the Cafod website for coursework.. erm..
Well we learnt mainly about Christianity in the last two years of Mount Carmel, we did coursework on Pilgrims who visit sites such as lourdes where Mary was supposed to have shown herself to Bernadette. I used to just get very bored in RE and ended up coming out with a very low grade (E) when I was predicted A, simply because it was so boring and half of it you had to make up rather than learning fact
Doing the first module of A-level physics (Particle Physics) made me think about religion so much more, on how the world could have been founded, the big bang and such. Made me think more in a week than I did in RE for five years.

RE has nothing to do with learning moral values. What do you think your parents are for?
RE is the study of Religion, whether it be Christianity, Islam, or whatever.
Well, it was when I was at school.
But then, we were allowed to have snowball fights then as well.
How things change...
