when people do surprising things...

i was talkin to a doorman friend of mine and he was sayin how he threw this student out for causing a ruckus and at the end of the day he showed up at the front of the door with a card saying sorry and a box of quality street...

needless to say the whole door team was shocked as it was the first time it had ever happened...

then in the news the other day i read that Mike Tyson gave £5000 to the fund for the WPC Sharon Beshenivsky.

so what other things have people done that have surprised u?

Re: when people do surprising things...

Years ago when we lived in North Yorkshire I worked for a while as the wages clerk for a firm in Kirby Moorside that made gliders and speedboats. It had been taken over by the Vickers group from Barrow in Furness. I had only been there a couple of weeks when I was in the canteen one lunchtime and there was a group of well-dressed men at the next table with my boss. I got up to go back in my office and said, half-joking, to their table, "I've got a rotten headache. Somebody do something about it".

Ten minutes later there was a knock on my office window and when I opened it a man who had been in the canteen was standing there, down below me as the office was on higher ground, holding up a plastic cup of coffee and 2 aspirins. He handed them to me, like a small boy, and walked away without a word. I didn't find out till the next day that he was Mr. Big from Vickers at Barrow, there on a visit.

Re: when people do surprising things...

Might have been on an ASBO and didn't want to be reported, so he was bribing the doormen.
