Look on nettles for ladybirds. My biomedical science friend tells me there is some chemical of sorts in nettles that ladybirds are attracted to in some way (I wasn't really listening).

Plenty of wasps in Lancaster and my mum found a ladybird at home the other week.

I barely see them like I used to though. I once found hundreds once when I climbed over a wall in Springhill area, but they've built a housing estate on that bit of land since.

all the 'ladybugs' are in America, just seen it on't news, they have swarms of them atm

I blame the chemicals used to remove little bugs that they feed on in gardens for the lack of these cute little beetles. Swat a few aphids take lunch out ouf a ladybirds mouth.

All you avid gardeners better be sure PETA aint around building a case against you!!!!! If you come across a PETA person please feel free to stamp on them and hit them with any pest spray at hand.

Spoke too soon, I saw my first wasp today and I tried to swat it.

I shooed one out yesterday too Sara ... they are nasty, horrid, repugnant, useless critters .. yuk. Think they appear more in September when they are slowing down a bit .. then they are a blooming nuisance, would never eat outside then.

Haven't seen a ladybird yet myself. Aah love that one of yours Accylass .. it's their lovely wings, suppose if just black, wouldn't be so fond of them, would we ?.. LOL

Do you remember when we had quite a plague of them, and they were biting ? Had taken time out from business, and sat in a park at Eastbourne .. was pestered to death by them, think they were after me butt. (Sandwich butt ..before anyone says anything else..

)

Think Spuggie is correct re. the lack of aphids.

I got into bed last night and turn the lights off and soon enough I had a wasp flying at my laptop screen! God knows where it came from. Outside hopefully, rather than inside.

Why would I crush it? Then I'd have to clean it up. I threw it out the window after putting it in a glass and watching it struggle for a while.

Wasps are my favourite creatures in the animal world after giraffes.

Are you some kind of sadist blazey, wasps are nasty little blighters, they'll sting you for fun, had one in the kitchen the other day, lasted all of 10 seconds before it went to that big nest in the sky

Funny enough I haven't either, a Bee yes, wasp no, mainly because I don't let the little blighters get close enough
