Re: Where did the Crib go
Eh? I thought everyone knew? It was in the Observer 6 months ago...Councillor Britcliffe sold the crib and the statues for five hundred quid, in order to cover the defecit in the Councils budget for 2006-2007. It will also save on the electricity bill.

Re: Where did the Crib go
Its gone....I'm sure I read it in The Observer.
You can always come down to Church traffic lights. Theres a nice little crib goes up there every year. The best time to see it is on a friday night - about eightish - when the air is nice and fresh.

Re: Where did the Crib go
I feel really miffed if we've not got a crib in Accy when everywhere else seems to have one.

Re: Where did the Crib go
I'm not a great one for lighting the streets or my house up like Blackpool illuminations. As a child though I did really look forward to seeing the Christmas tree in the Post Office garden in Stanhill and at the Library in Ossy, along with the Nativity crib near the War Memorial. The same went for the tree and Nativity in Accrington.
I don't know where the money went to, but the Nativity scenes were used to raise money, and there were slots in the glass for you to put money through.
I too really hope to see them in place soon.

Re: Where did the Crib go
I think it’s time for the Church, “all of the buggers” and HBC came together and reinforced the Christmas message across the town. It’s not just about commercialism, a bent tree or dodgy lights.
