The last RSPB report I read said that hedge sparrows are in decline;I maybe wrong here but I am sure it mentioned them being caught in traps in Mediterranean countries.Traps are designed to catch larger birds but the dumb old sparrow falls for it too. Think the traps involve tree branches coated with glue and bait on the glue so the birds get stuck and starve.Not too pleasant.

Now last year their where flocks of the bu**ers up here and not a lot of ow't else, this year I've only one or two magpies. Sparrows have declined nationally over the last few years but are beginning to make a come back. Lapwings where thin on the ground a few years back but are doing well now. Someone said recently that their was an increase in moggies taking birds but surly that can't account for the low numbers. The one thing I remember from my childhood up Miller Fold was the sound of Sky Larks in Brindles field. A sound I've heard once in the last four or five years and that were in the Lakes.

Lindsay it's not as daft as it sounds, the frogs trap and shoot Sparrows, as do must of the buggers on the continent, They force feed the poor little sods then cook them. Well what can you expect from idiots that eat Horses.

magpies are known for theiving so we can get them jailed for theiving although they would probably only serve half their time in jail or get probation
