Where was the Mayor?

Nope it's not a "Where's Wally ?" quiz but it might as well be.
Our Food festival last weekend at the Town Hall, I have it on very good authority that it was the most successful yet, packed to the rafters and all the producers were more than happy with the organisers and the layout.
* The Hairy Bikers did their stint and were still signing autographs at 4pm, after that they went back up to the exhibitors, had a beer or two, posed for photos and chatted for another 2 hours.( thoroughly nice genuine blokes according to my "source")
* Exhibitors came from as far as Oxford and were impressed with the overall set up.
* the town was busy and the local stores benefitted.
So, the downside.... only 1 councillor was observed.
No Mayor, no Mr Britcliffe, (unless they were incognito)
2 exhibitors who had come from the Fylde coast and were unpacking their stock on Friday night got parking fines despite having the relevant posters in the car window.
By my reckoning the Hairy Bikers spent 7 hours at the Town hall on saturday, not including their travelling time, fair enough, they get paid for their appearance but so does our Mayor.....over to you Mr Dobson.

Re: Where was the Mayor?

You're having a laugh, right?

A wasted photo opportunity for next year's calendar.

I was looking forward to seeing Messrs. Brtitcliffe and Dobson enjoying a black pudding.

Re: Where was the Mayor?

Nope, it's true, no "dignitaries" in evidence allegedly, although if anyone has any evidence to refute this I would suggest they get it to the Observer quick before the letter of disgust arrives !

Re: Where was the Mayor?

It must have been the most high profile event in Hyndburn's year, it certainly received a lot of media coverage.

If true, that there was no offical civic presence, it is a disgrace.

It is really, you would have thought one of our esteemed civic leaders would have been there for some free nosebag.

Re: Where was the Mayor?

Is there not a mayors diary on hyndburns website?

I cant get on there to check - it wont let me for some reason have a look see on there and see if he was supposed to be there. In fact they might not have invited him.

Very bad mannered.

The least they could have done is hang a banner or two from the viaduct, excusing themselves.

Could they not have been away on holiday? I believe that both have children and last weekend was the start of the holidays......just a thought.

Re: Where was the Mayor?

I'm a bit surprised they weren't there - I mean it was a council (well Leisure in Hyndburn) organised event, you'd have thought they'd have been invited

Re: Where was the Mayor?

My well placed source says several stall holders were a bit miffed about it.
I think it's disgraceful that Dobbo didn't show his face on either day.
