Before the litter louts can be brought under control, the real criminals should be brought to boot, then perhaps respect for each other will lead to no littering?

By the way is Canada so perfect you have to correct our way of living? You left to get a better life, you now have it, let us worry about day to day living here, you just cope with the nostalgia.

Well if your going to get fined more for dropping your fag end on the floor that hitting someone with a hammer there is one easy solution to this

ram your fag end down some body's throat

The two are dealt with by two different organisations.

The litter issue is now dealt with by the Local Council.
The hammer type offence is obviously dealt with by the Police.
Maybe the Police need to learn from the Local Council what zero tolerance means and how to deal with offenders.

Have the Council got it right and the Police got it wrong?

I think the real question is Neil have the police and the courts ever got it right, I have never seen the point of the police investigating a crime and then when it gets to court the men and women in curly wigs give out a slap on the wrists, maybe the police just think why the hell should we work like hell bringing these people to court when the punishment never seems to fit the crime

It has turned out that the woman did not hit Jade with the hammer, she didn't even threaten her with it. She just had it in her bag.

The hammer was a judge's gavel which she carried for religious reasons.

I don't understand what sort of religion but the point I'm trying to make is that we are comparing someone dropping litter with someone threatening or hitting someone with a hammer when that is not what happened.

I was shocked at first when they let the woman go but as she did not threaten Jade with the hammer, didn't even get it out of her bag then she hasn't done anything against the law.
