Who heads the UK wage league

Interesting reading on the bbc news

However, Halifax said that smaller wage packets were partly offset by lower living costs.

Look where hyndburn is in the league table

There should be more pound shops in Kensington & Chelsea, so they could afford to earn less.
Or perhaps if we had Royals in Hynburn, our weekly income would raise.

Fifth from the bottom! Doesn't it make you want to weep.

Did anyone see the report in the Telegraph this week concerning plans for a business park on the site of Huncoat Power Station? Apparently the company behind it say that it will provide 400-500 new jobs. All of them in warehousing and distribution. All of them Low Skill and paying National Minimum wages. This not because Accrington is uniquely attractive to such businesses, but because sites in more preferable locations are now full!

Re: Who heads the UK wage league

After looking for work during the summer in essex and all round the south west wages down there arent much an improvement as to up here . Most companies down there only offer minimum wage yet the cost of living is a lot higher . A friend of mine got a job in Crawley and really struggled off his earnings and ended up back up here within a few months

Re: Who heads the UK wage league

It does tend to skew things a bit when there are people who work for HBC earning in excess of £75,000.

It's worth every penny Bob, just to keep them away from what little private industry we have left or they would cock that up as well!
