who represents Hyndburn 9Accrington and district) in Europe
ok , Britcliffe seems to be the 'godfather' of the local council and Greg Pope is the local M.P. but who is the local represenative in Brussels/Strasburg ? just curious since I have never seen any mention of this person and it seems more and more decisions are coming from Europe , is this person a user of "accy web" ?
just wondering , thanks

Re: who represents Hyndburn 9Accrington and district) in Europe
I found this
MEPs are elected on a regional basis which means that
each MEP in a region represents each and every person
living there. In June 2004 the people of the North West
elected nine members to the European Parliament
here-
European Parliament UK Office - UK MEPs
I have never heard of their involvement in any local issues

I think, and perhaps someone else in the Labour party can confirm it, that the representative that covers our area is Gary Titley.

Re: who represents Hyndburn 9Accrington and district) in Europe
You've exported your goverment to Brussels and are paying through the nose for it. I read this week that the House of Commons voted to increase hugely the amount Britain pays to the EU. Add to this the extra money you must shell out for the EU's crazy regulations and quotas....which push up prices for food, energy bills and petrol. All of these things impact negatively on your way of life.

I don't always agree with you, but this time you've hit the nail right on the head. What makes me laugh (in a cynical sort of way) is that you get so many people on here talking about how proud they are to be British/English and how they love their country. Wake up...you're part of the United States of Europe! And Gordon Brown didn't even give you a vote on it!

Ok that's a fact but I for one am not bloody happy about it.

Indeed, its time Britain got some courage and stood up for itself instead of blindly following the path of a the United States of Europe.
Give us back our sovereignty! The EU should be for trade purposes, only.

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Mini EU 'referendum' to be staged
Fantastic! We were cheated out of a referendum by Gordon Brown. If he didn't want to adhere to their 2005 election manifesto commitment of a referendum then he should actually have an election with his own manifesto!
