Whodunnit?

'Hyndburngate' spying allegations (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Is this Labour skulduggery or has andrewb switched his allegiance and become a double-agent?

There should be nothing hidden, but there must be something that they don't want known - why

I just love this!

"Speaking after the meeting, opposition leader Graham Jones said: “Hearing the allegations at full council was the first any of us had heard about this and it is completely unfounded. "

I never heard of it but it's untrue! LOL

He'd never heard the allegation before it was brought up, and discussed, at a full council meeting, and commented after.

Still, at least they have their priorities in order.

Everytime an incident happens in sight of CCTV cameras, we're told there isn't any evidence, because there was no film in the camera in question.

I bet this won't be the case when cameras are placed to protect the council leader's drawers.

I cannot think of any sane person who would be caught dead with their hand in this man's drawers.

And that was enough time to investigate it?

Anyone who works or has worked in an office environment knows that the cleaners gain more information about what's going on than anyone else there :d...but i'm sure the cleaners are all Tory voters in this case

or maybe it was a certain persons relative who praised it, since their premises were the first stretch of businesses to be cleared of ice, when it finally started, that i was informed is another fact.

What a load of bunkum. It was alleged the MD's in tray was being searched. He doesn't have an in tray on his desk and never has. Rooms are always locked so what did people do, ghost in?

How about trying to run the Borough properly.

It was Cllr. Britcliffe, who according to the press, decided to bring the matter to the attention of everyone, by raising the matter at a public meeting.

Though I agree, any actual details of the alleged crime seem fairly scant on the ground, and certainly no concrete evidence was presented to the press, when they interviewed Cllr. Britcliffe, to back any of the up the claim.

If there'd been some crime committed, one would rather have hoped the police would have been called, and they'd have investigated the matter.

Re: Whodunnit?

It's only two years since 'Petergate', as the press called it.

'A FURIOUS war of words has erupted as Hyndburn Council became embroiled in a "Petergate" snooping row.'
'Council leader Peter Britcliffe claimed that members of the opposition Labour group have been found in his office at Scaitcliffe House.'
Row erupts over council snoop claims - News - Accrington Observer

Perhaps delusional paranoia only happens in two yearly cycles?

I don't remember any criminal charges being brought after the last snooping claim, unless I'm mistaken.
