Where will we go now? We've still got Argos but flicking through a catalogue and going to the shop and filling a form in is not the same experience for kids as going to a proper toy shop and seeing all the toys displayed on the shelves.
If you can't get to Toys r us in Preston where do you go?

Yep its a real shame. We were having a brew and a butty in the cafe on Northgate on Thursday and wondered why someone was taking a photo of Mercers, then saw yesterdays telegraph.

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
Christies Auction Houses have announced job cuts, no number though. Waterstones announce 200 job cuts, and 130 at JDV Motors. 17 high street stores have collapsed since November, and 22,755 jobs have been lost THIS year (2009). I got made redundant 3 weeks before Christmas and trust me its miserable, i dont want to be out of work at all, i hate claiming and go out of my mind with boredom sat in the house, but theres just nothing about at the moment, companies are reluctant to start taking on staff at he moment. To be honest I cant see an end to it all at the moment!

I don't think so, because they have a thriving on line service which is less labour intensive than High St stores - some of them may close but Argos will carry on.

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
cost pruning may lead to shop pruning in the near future

Re: Who'll Be Next To Go, after Woolworths?
Was in Blackburn today.... not many people around in the shops and certainly not spending much money:
I am starting to worry now, wondering where it will all end: I ask myself this question now before I buy anything ( is it necessary )
