Re: who's seen this house?

I have never understood why people do it. I think I'm a bit over-decorated with a holly wreath on my front door.

A neighbour, just round the corner from me, has an enormous load of illuminations in the front garden and on the roof (it's a bungalow). Some of the structures are left out all year round (only lit at Xmas) but each year they add more than ever. Most of them are white but, this year, they have added bright blue lights as well. I bet you can see the glow from Space.

I love seeing homes decorated like that at xmas. I Think if folk can afford it then go for it. Kids love it and it really is festive.
We have a few around here that go to town on outside decs and most do it for kiddie charities.
Great Idea. NO BAH HUMBUG FROM ME.

Nor me Cherokee ... absolutely adore these decorations outside houses .. very cheerful and good on the residents.

Two houses nicely decorated on Blackburn Road at Clayton as you come up to the lights at the Load of Mischief. Look forward to going past them most nights.

As you say Cherokee, the kids love them and great to see their own faces light up when they visit. Some of you lot just 'Grumpy Gits'

You'll be grumbling about the Blackpool Illuminations soon and the lights in Disneyland, Paris (for Pipinfort!).

Agree some of these look great. Like to see them, even though I'm not a "Christmasy" type of person, lol. Something about lights....and must say I do like the blue ones.

I'm struggling to pay for my normal fuel bills though, never mind what it must cost to run some of these displays!

Good on them if they can afford it.

Someone on Howarth Ave in Church used to have a good display, don't know if they still do it.

Quite right, but let's look at this story in more depth. Her neighbours haven't complained and she hasn't removed the lights.

In fact, it was one over-zealous worker who has received no backing at all from the housing association or the local council. In other words a non-story blown out of proportion by a newspaper which isn't fit to wrap chips in.
