Strictly for the purposes of research, I went into MacDonalds to investigate. A Medium Cheeseburger Meal, including chips and a drink, is 3.89. A single cheeseburger is £1.39, and medium chips are 99p.

So you could have got what you wanted, ie cheeseburger and 2 portions of chips, for £3.37, thus saving 52p.

Perhaps thats why they wouldn't tell me? Rather sell me a 'meal' than inform me I have a choice.
