Shaz, I'm sure I could get one in with a shoe horn...but I don't fancy carrying it around.

No, Dianne, I wasn't in the girl guides....I was in the boyscouts...it was much more interesting!

Surgical tape is in there for when I get blisters....which I sometimes do....despite wearing sensible shoes.

When I was working, I was notorious for carrying everything anyone might need in my handbag......if anyone wanted anything the call went up 'see Sr P - she's bound to have one in her handbag'.
I went to Spain one year with my boss and the toilet in our room would not flush........who mended it(Temporarily)?
Yes, it was me with a pair of Spencer Wells forceps and a length of chain.

Why did I have Spencer Wells forceps in my handbag....to tune in hotel room TV's(oh and they were invaluable for other things too).

So....... Sorry John, there is no room for the lump hammer.
You could do a months survival course in the Amazon forest with that lot!

Gordon....if I did I would certainly lose weight.....there isn't much in the way of nourishment in there....and I wouldn't trust myself to eat shoots and leaves...though I could put salt on them and eat them in a civilised fashion...with a knife and fork.

I would love to own one by "The Bridge" which are just exquisite classic Italian leather bags -would last a lifetime. Will have to start saving up.
I have a variety of makes but my favourites are my 5 Bridge Handbags. All purchased from Marsdens Leather Shop in Accrington.

Got a couple of Radley ones but my most expensive one was my Marc Jacobs but it was in the sale

Re: Women's Handbag

I dont have many, I take smaller ones out when I go to the pub but my everyday one is ususally full of reciepts, my purse, fags and keys usually.

My gets chucked all over the place so usually buy cheap ones when they are in the sale.

My Mothers is really heavy, maybe thats why she is short the weight she has to carry everywhere!!

Re: Women's Handbag

I don't have many handbags (Sparks would beg to differ), I assure you it is less than 10. I do have a couple of designer bags, neither of which I paid £1000 for. One was a present and the other.... I bought myself in Hong Kong. They are both Fendi, one of which I have taken round Australia with me. I tend to have practical things in my handbag. Purse, phone, lip balm, torch, women's hygiene products (well, you did ask :-)), tissues, pen, keys, sunglasses or small umbrella (weather dependent), pain killers. Sometimes I have several old receipts, telephone numbers and websites scribbled on random bits of paper, of which, I can never remember the origin...

Re: Women's Handbag

The most I have ever paid for a bag is £65, I usually get either from Debenhams or M &S although I do intend to buy a Radley one. I have about ten. I bought a Julian McDonald Star one last year which turned out to be a waste of money because the lining frayed and the handle came loose after a couple of months. I never go anywhere without my purse, mobile phone, sunglasses, umbrella, mints, cigarettes and lighter, tissues, keys, paracetamol, pen and more recently my Kindle. Also my work ID and diary in my work bag.

Re: Women's Handbag

I never have more than one bag on the go, can't be a*sed moving things from one bag to another. I have given several to charity shops in the past as I bought them and never used them. Small ones are too small and big ones end up getting full of stuff. Often I use a small backpack instead and I never take one to the pub - get someone else to buy the drinks!

I use a bag most when we are on hols - for carrying passsports etc.

I weighed my current bag tonight - 3.3 kg but there was a copy of the Radio Times and a thick paperback in there as well.

I can think of many things I would rather do with £1000 than buy a handbag.

No room for Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davy, Dan'l Whiddon, Harry Hawke, and Uncle Tom Cobley and all?

Re: Women's Handbag

Um.........No Eric.
Maybe a small pack of wet wipes.
I am a bit like Sue. I use the same bag for ages...mainly because I can't be bothered swapping stuff from one bag to another.....and when you do swap....you find that you have left something you need in 'your other bag'.

I choose leather bags, they must be robust and have handles long enough to allow them to be caried on my shoulder.
