Re: Woolworth's

Woolworths Shares have stopped trading on the Stock Market. The Management of Woolies are actively trying to find a buyer for their 800 + stores

1949: Mars Bar - 4d (1.7p)

1959: A quarter of Pick n Mix - 7d (3p)

1969: A quarter of Pick n Mix - 1/1d (5.5p)

1979: A quarter of Pick n Mix - 20p

1989: A quarter of Pick n Mix - 35p

1999: A quarter of Pick n Mix - 52p

well they always used to sell singles on the "Embassy" label, which were "Crap" covers of original hits, so not suprised ya won't say.,sadly though Woolys n MFI are the junk end of the market, so not suprised they have gone into admin, sorry fer the 30.000 employed by them, but fear this is only the start, more will follow. the two n half % reduction in VAT looks very sick in this light.

You misspent your youth in Redman's? Where? I bet it was behind the cooked meat stall.

You're right there cashman, I used to work at Motorist Discount Centre in the early eighties. The old ovens from From Redman's were still in the back of the shop. We still used to get old biddies coming in asking for a pound of streaky and a quarter of roast ham. (Probably jaysay wanting to relive the days of his youth.)

Re: Woolworth's

I noticed MK One is empty today despite some of the new stores being bought out from going in to administration last week. Guess Accy didn't appeal to the buyers, wonder if they will take the same view with Woolworths
