It does not work like that in Spain, as far as I know they just tell you how much you owe and then take the money from your bank account. You have no choice, they just take it.

Nah, it's just like our Direct Debit system but with Spanish terminology.

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
I like to think I'd be missed we are quite a close family and see each other regular so I think they'd notice quite quickly.

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
A few weeks ago, as a result of a misread obituary, my fellow bingoers at Accy Empire thought I was dead. It happened to coincide with a week when I was housebound with that dental abcess which stopped me going to the last but one meet.
When I walked in the bingo (not knowing about the false rumour) several people looked up and turned white. Then the manager came to me and explained that they were about to have a collection for a wreath.
I was made a fuss of by people I only know by first name only, and approached by people who I dont even know the names of, saying they were glad that I was alive.
I was very moved by the feelings expressed by people who I had only considered to be aquaintances.
That is the sort of community spirit that gladdens the heart,

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
I live on my own and if my sisters and bro's and neighbours didnt see me for a week they'd get worried. Then come looking for me.
Mind you i was late for work and i missed the phone call on my mobile - they rang my bro i was late by 10 mins! So i am missed god knows why though.
Must be my sunny personality!!!

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
funny thing just struck me,i think i do miss people on here, even if i aint met em,when they aint been on fer a while, more so than miss neighbours, reason being i know em better,if that makes sense. i know some folk were worried about me last month n i was only on holiday, that was very good of em i think. difference these days, neighbours are predominantly asian, n whilst we get along fine wi em, they can clear off home fer 6 wks,/ 3 months etc n in the main, never mention the fact. they don't seem to mention owt like that, don't know why we always mention to neighbours when we go away, its like extra insurance, if they know, they will keep n eye on the house.

It was a bit like that living in cities like London and Glasgow.
People are more transient, and you don't get the neighbourliness you often get in small towns, especially in the north.
I'm lucky I have great neighbours now. There when you need them, and visa versa.
Missed Margaret's post re: her wreath the first time round. Really had me howling. Read like a script from Last of the Summer Wine, only funnier because it's set in Lancashire instead.

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
Were I live, its Warden controlled, some time ago quite a few years, I wasn't to well one morning and decided to stay in bed, I'm a creature of habit in as much that I usually get up at the same time each morning and open the curtains by round 9-30am, on this occasion because I hadn't done my usual ritual,by 10-30am the Warde was knocking on the door to see if everything was okay, as a neighbour had showed concern. Like cashy said you tend to miss people on here if they haven't been on for a while, as was shown earlier this year when I was in hospital twice. Another thing that is a great thing about Accy Web is that when I came out of hospital the number of PMs I had asking if I needed any help or shopping doing, which is very reassuring to say the least

Re: would anyone notice if you went missing
When I was rushed into hospital in the summer a friend of Neil and Romp's, who works at the hospital, recognised me after briefly seeing me at the concert in Rhyddings Park.
Next thing I know Neil's at my bedside with a bunch of grapes, telling me all the Accy Web gossip, then Lettie's down from maternity, checking the nurses are looking after me properly.
Happily people in this part of the world do still care, and word usually spreads quickly if someone isn't A1.
I was just pleased I was on the heart ward, and not the clap clinic.
