So you follow the guidelines - put bin out in morning or night before and collect same day after emptying. If there bin is stolen it is there fault not yours. Don't forget it is never your bin, it belongs to Hyndburn BC not you. I will be reminding them of this if any of my 3 wheelie bins goes missing. No that is not a typo I have 3 wheelie bins, 1 big 'un and 2 little 'uns

Re: Yeah? Recycle this then!
Not quite no.
It happened at an area council meeting. The bin people were answering questions after the meeting. I was with another resident and made reference to Hyndburns blue toy box scheme and said it was very good for keeping toys in but there was no way I was going to put empty cans with razor sharp edges into that blue box. It has a lid I was told. He is 3, he can use the sky remote to select which kids channel he wants on so a poorly fitting lid won't stop him cutting his fingers on a festering cat food tin. Why can't we have one of the small wheelie bins for cans, tins etc. Errrrrrrrrrrr, you can was the answer. A similar discussion occured about the silly blue bags. Have you noticed the number of empty pop bottle's blowing around after a windy recyling collection day. So I ended up with 2 small wheelie bins as a trial. There are 2 off us with a big bin and 2 small ones. I bet not many people know the Kerbside Recycler can handle wheelie bins.
I use the paper sack as well. All bills etc are cross-cut shredded first or course ( and a lot of other flyers etc to make it harder to rebuild the private stuff).
Card is saved and put out as side waste on non-recyle day. I am still waiting for the council to start recycling it instead of land filling it.
About the only thing I throw in the non-recyle that I should not is glass. This probably averages out to about 1 jar a week.
Not bad really for someone who was totally against having to do the councils work for them. The Government regs/rules or whatever they are say the council should provide a recepticle for recyclets and one for non-recylce waste. No mention of little boxes or bags etc. Look at Rossendale - 2 bins 1 for each, thats it.

But that's a fair explanation, and if you have the room to store the 2 extra wheelies, then why not. Have seen where some people have opted for the smaller wheelies instead of the larger ones. On the cardboard, have a mate over in colne, he has just been given yet another sack for the cardboard, suppose HBC will get round to that in their own good time

Re: Yeah? Recycle this then!
My first problem is that I am rarely there on the day Hyndburn empty our bin. Therefore I end up with a lot of rubbish, and have to ask a kind neighbour to put the bin out, and then back in.
My second problem is that Hyndburn seem incapable of understanding that I do not have a blue box. I have rung them to tell them so, with the result that I now have three blue bags! Since in my household bottles are a regular item (make what you will of that!), I now have a backyard full of bottles.
Oh well, back to the drawing board ......

Why not ask HBC for a small wheelie, as Neil did, save having them all over backyard

Funny that, was over at mates in colne on a bin day, he jumped up all of a sudden, just a mo, they've emptied the bins that cardboard bag will be down the road now, in fact it was in the road under my car!!!! along with another bag with the number 45 inked on it, now 45 is at the top end of the road.

Peel Ward has the highest vacancy rate in the Borough at 11% so obviously 11% of wheelie bins are unlikey to reach their desired destination. I dont know how we can stop this but as they are out now, I want all those bins collected back up and taken back to the works yard. Its a disgrace and shows up the poor state of the area.
