Yo!! Shoot 'em up!!!

It appears that the State legislature of Florida is about to amend the provisions of the law pertaining to the whens and wheres of the right to use firearms. Whereas under the current law, a Floridan is quite entitled to shoot a burglar if found on their premises, or blast a car thief if found in the car, the citizen of Florida must retreat, and only fire as a last resort, should he or she be threatened in any other circumstances.

The wise lawmakers of the State have seen the error of this position, and once the relevant instrument is signed off by their magnificent guv'nor, Mr Jeb Bush, the law will be quite simple:

ARE YOU THREATENED? THEN BLOW THE BAS*ARD AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

This seems to me to be an eminently sensible position to take, and one which we could learn from here; Surely, we could select certain law-abiding subjects of Her Majesty to bear hidden arms and to patrol the streets in the evening looking for a challenge from the usual motley assortment of Chavs, Druggies, Travellers and other assorted Riff-Raff? Once they approach you with their usual menacing threats, then whip out your Uzi machine-pistol from your gaberdine mac, squeeze the trigger and waste the scumbags.

I would be the first to volunteer to do my duty and bear arms, and certainly with my track record this year in relation to Cats and other vermin, can honestly say I'm a pretty good shot (K.I.A'd - 17, Missing Presumed Dead - 11, wounded - 0. )

Who will support me in this noble cause?

PMSL! If we can also waste rapists, peadophiles and other scum as they're walking from the prison gates, I'm with you.

As for cats no I'm not shooting them yet unless I come accross a Burberry wearing, drug addicted cat that parks their caravan at inappropriate places, but you never know Mr. T it might happen one day

A bit subjective, surely - how do you qualify/quantify feeling "threatened"? There was a case a couple of years ago when a British holidaymaker, finding himself lost in Florida, knocked on a door to ask directions and was promptly shot dead by the householder, who presumably felt "threatened". Perhaps we should stick to the definition of "assault" in Section 30 of the Offences against the Person Act 1865 - at least then we don't get shot by red-necked, gun-happy idiots!
