Re: you can shove your public transport.....
My mum doesn't like public transport because she gets claustrophobic, so we have walked home from accy to ossy for years without fail, not got the bus to town once, and sometimes we walk back too if we don't have too much shopping, otherwise we get a taxi.
I definitely think it is lazy to not walk up that hill. If my 3 yr old brother can walk half the distance of our journey (before finally giving in and getting in his pram without getting tired, he isn't superman), I'm sure an equally healthy toddler can get up that hill no problem.

Re: you can shove your public transport.....
It is not public transport that is the problem it is the public transport system
Too much public money is spent facilitating car usage (not just roads but also parking) and hence not put into the bus/train services. Of course now both of these services are private industries they only ever run to make profit not as a service.
Re nationalisation is needed and urgently

So how come it's OK for you and your Mum to get a taxi with your shopping but if MissKitty does that with her toddler and her shopping she is being lazy? Ormerod Street is one of the steepest streets in Accrington. I think only the top end of Avenue Parade comes close in comparison.
Of course no doubt you think I am lazy for getting the bus up here and the elderly lady across the road should be walking up here too along with another friend of mine who lives further up and can barely get around the house.

Could be really exciting in driving wind and rain too, which isn't known to be uncommon ...

Accy to Ossy is a flat route. Great you did it, but dont pass comment on other people.
For a start your brother only did half a flat journey with two people to supervise. Take away that extra adult, add a few shopping bags, and then see how you'd feel.
Thats the thing with you Blazey, you make statements without having a clue what its actually like.

your 40p mile is well over estimated kate, I work on approx 12p mile and that is at the price of petrol now, as I recently filled my car up when I must have been driving on fumes and it cost me £42 and if I was using it on motorway driving as Knutsford would be then I would get about 350 miles to a tank... so if it is 40 miles x 12p then it would be £4.80 one way

Re: you can shove your public transport.....
the taxis are cheaper than the bus if there is two of ya, these days.
I havent taken public transport for ages, did the other week and nearly passed out at the price.
I'll carry on polluting the environment with my car till they sort that

Re: you can shove your public transport.....
I never use Public Transport.
Judging from what I’ve read in various threads on here, the bus service around here seems particularly poor. Poor scheduling, not particularly user friendly, especially for those with prams and such. As for the cost…it is a joke.

What planet you on entwisi .. not just the price of the petrol !
All costings of expenses for travelling by car include insurance, cost of buying car, servicing, replacement of parts, (tyres/oil, brake pads, exhausts, blah, blah, blah) depreciation, road tax, etc. (any speeding fines you may pick up.. LOL)
Average paid on company expenses is running at approximately .45p per mile.
Whoops, may be got it wrong :-
