Much like the labour boys some 20 odd years ago, who thought it amusing to turn up to fancy dress parties with a bandage covered in tomato sauce wrapped round their head, claiming to be Norman Tebbit. People of any ilk can be a prat. The mention of conservative seems to send you into a paroxysm of verbal diarrhoea

I heard it on the news.
I genuinely found it shocking, as did the Tory press who reported it in their newspapers.
I also find it shocking that we seem to have a generation younger than myself who don't seem to find it offensive.

Sorry, still half asleep.
Above should have quoted Jaysay's post.

This is okay though? Nobody chooses their family, whom go through pain and suffering after the loss of a loved one.
I think both are very distasteful, and neither newsworthy.

As for being uncaring Caz, you don't know me to suggest I am uncaring
In this case I can, didn't refer to anything else in context to that. Nor do you know my relationship with with my kids
but I can guarantee that everyone does things at some point in their life that they know their parents would disapprove of and I'm sure many of the people on the forum can thing of things they've done or said that they're parents would be shocked at.
Yes maybe, but just maybe I know my relationship with my kids, and know about what they find offensive.
Being sensible is lovely, but let's not lose sight of reality here.
Oh dear God forbid Blazey
I believe most girls tend to dress up as hookers for bad taste parties. Excellent example for my generation to be setting.
Yes for as longer as we can remember, not a new thing, can't see why you think that may be wrong, but take Baby p for granted.
but then I don't attend these things at all. I just get the joys of viewing 'typical student' lifestyle in photographs on facebook.
I sit in one of the bars in town and play scrabble with a pint. Outrageous!

Think most people who posted are outraged at the fact that this was actually done, not the fact it had anything to do with a Tory.
Even if it isn't newsworthy, although it is coz the party saw fit to sling him out, doesn't mean we can't discuss it in general does it?

Did the party throw him out for doing it, or for being in the paper?

Well if he hadn't have done it he wouldn't have been in the paper in the first place

I know that, he was only thrown out because of the bad press though.

Re: Young Tory in bad taste shocker.
I don't think either situation should be mocked, but I'm guilty of finding distasteful humour such as the likes of Jimmy Carr quite amusing. People pay to listen to it.
At least the lad in the newspaper apologised and admitted it was taking the theme a step too far. I spoke to my friend today and he provided me with a less than adequate argument for his actions as what he would say if he was in this situation, which I wont repeat for fear of offending people even more.
Boundaries are always pushed, day in day out. This lad is just unfortunate that he's the one who got picked on by the media. Someone has profited from him dressing up that way. He just made a mistake, but someone is quite happily making a living off him and madeleine mccann every day. If anyone is sickening it is the media who write the trash in the newspapers.
Anyway this isn't really meant to be a whinge about my opinion on the topic is it, its about to be about the topic. I think he's handled it quite well and apologised. Some people wouldn't have been quite so graceful.
I suppose you are examples of the power of the media though.

Re: Young Tory in bad taste shocker.
And as for the Party taking issue over it, Labour has treated me badly enough just for mentioning to them that I CONSIDERED joining CF, so they're hardly the most lenient of people. They'd throw people out for the slightest hint of embarrassing the party, whether it's disclosing information or doing something like this.
You just need to look at the fuss (I think...) Graham Jones had over facebook not so long ago to know what kind of problems can occur indirectly. Things get taken out of context and people look worse than they are.
