i thought it would've been a three way shoot out with The golfer clarke, the gymnast and joe calzaghe personally

Good for her I suppose, as she did win a gold medal at the European one day events, but rumour has it that the Beeb fixed a viewers poll so comic David Walliams couldn't win for his channel swim.

Hardly a great year for Btitish sport after a poor show in the World Cup.

Still there's always next year, and old grannies shouting for 'Timbo' again come June.

Hmmm, when I saw her name up there I think she was a predictable winner. I was hoping Joe Calzaghe got it too.

Strangely today was the day that a member of the Royal Family, who is in direct line to the throne, became the first person to be paid to front an advertising campaign, as Zara Philips became the face of Land Rover.

just cuz joe c doesnt make a huge huff and puff and does the whole media circus thing and under-plays his own achievements most of the time it kinda put him 2nd best straight away

i thought the golfer wud've won myself

I actually vote for Clarke, but I wonder if the fact it was in the morning press that he was courting again made any differance, it didn't to me, but we know what the great British public can be like

I cant get used to the idea that a member of "The Firm" won yet believe others have done more. Whether it was rigged or not someone will know but aint telling. Will she ride one of grans horses in a big jump race I wonder.

I think that´s really nice. Her Mother won it in the seventies and deserved it too.
The way Anne has brought her children up is worth comment. No big titles, just as normal as possible. I wish Zara luck with her career and also in the 2008 Olympics.
