Boogie Nights the Musical !

Accrington Theatre Group are holding their AGM at 8p.m. at Our Lady and St. Hubert's RC Primary School, Harwood Lane, Great Harwood on Monday, 1st June. All Members welcome.

They also will be following this, around 8.45, with an introduction to the next exciting production of 'Boogie Nights - The Musical'. Would like to invite anyone, who is interested in being involved in the show, to come along. I will be there, but don't let that put you off ...

Re: Boogie Nights the Musical !

We had our A.G.M., with a short rehearsal afterwards.

Must say, this musical is going to be a great success, and will have your feet tapping from start to finish even if you have not gone through the 70's. Will be Party Fun, not only for the cast, but for the audience from the moment they enter the theatre to leaving. You will transported back in time with the excitement, vigour and magnetic quality of this show.

The members present ... about 70 ! showed great enthusiasm, and were already having fun with the disco tunes.

There will be a great camaraderie in this show, and if anyone is still interested can come along on Monday at 8 p.m... same venue to see what we are all about. Don't think it will be an easy ride ... lots of work for the chorus too.

You will be sorry if you miss the opportunity.

Re: Boogie Nights the Musical !

Is this a musical version of the film "Boogie Nights", starring Burt Reynolds, and was about a 1970's male porn star with a big willie? Have you filled that part yet? Anyway, I'm surprised - I didn't think you could get away with this muck in Ossy.

You will have to open this to see details until I work out how to get a larger image in a post.

We have a ticket hotline @ 0845 060 4040 or by going to Welcome to TicketWeb! and, of course, can be bought from the Information Centre at Accrington Town Hall. Cost £10 per ticket, £9 for concessions.

After you have been dazzled by the show, you can then continue to boogie to our live disco with a licensed bar ... no short change here !!

Re: Boogie Nights the Musical !

A reminder that this show opens on Saturday night .. hope you have bought your tickets.

This theatre group, under varying names, has been going since 1893, giving pleasure to the people of Accrington over all these past years.

They really need to make a profit on this show, otherwise, could be the final curtain

Unfortunately, we have not got an Ilyas to save us, but your bums on seats will help !

It will be a great night out !!

Re: Boogie Nights the Musical !

I make no excuse for bumping this thread up .. we are on S.O.S. alert after all.

I have been watching, this afternoon, video recordings of the 1st night ... the show is absolutely amazing ... I defy any other amateur theatre group in the country to put on a show such as this..

Lots of the audience were in 70's costume and got into the swing of things whilst entering the forum ... you can have a dance beforehand if you wish, as well as after the show.

It is not just a show .. a night of entertainment where you can join in the 70's songs as it progresses.

And do not think that these lead singers are of amateur status or the musicians ... hmmph, what is X-Factor ??

It is vibrant, sparkling, zippy, energetic, pulsating, bouyant, vibrant, zesty ... need I go on. Get yerselves up there for a great night .... promise you will not be disappointed.

Aaaw thanks Mez .. knew you would enjoy it ... I can just picture you and Doreen .. not a care in the world ... flaying your arms around. The stars are not just on stage, but in the audience too. I am just sorry I am now too old to do this type of show ... gotta' move over though ...

Remember the Accrington Theatre Group has a young section called The Buddies, and many of our cast go on to the main show. Next year (hopefully), the youngsters can also be involved in 'Beauty and the Beast'

Next year will depend on you lot .. the public, to come and support us please.

Kipax took some wonderful 'photos of the dress rehearsal, and gave me permission to let you view a few through his website Sports Photography

Just click on the Boogie Nights' entries.

Re: Boogie Nights the Musical !

I went to see this tonight and would recommend it. It was a good lively show, great singing and dancing, captured the spirit of the 70s and was great fun.

Saturday is sold out, I believe, but if you have nothing to do tomorrow night, I would really urge you to consider braving the elements and going to see it. It's well worth it.
