The thing is the Brit has gone downhill fast over the recent years( I used to work there and was proud of the quality we got it to). I assumed the special offers it was running was because someone was trying to turn it round from its bad reputation of late. In order to do this you need to be good value but of decent quality in both food and service.
Untill I hear differently I'll give it a miss.
I'm not fond of carvary's TBH anyway

i think they have lowered the price recently Ian, they have the likes of The Redcap and The Duke and Gamecock to contend with on the carvery front
i see certain members of accyweb have failed to see my point in this thread, yet again i thank you Ian for pointing out things that are valid opinions on visiting places, certain people like picking at my threads and following my around this site just to try and make me look a fool
this thread was designed to give people a heads up, not so people could pick out bad points about me

I understand what Lindsay is on about Flashy .. you have the facility to cut up your own meat as desired, however, I myself, find that food tastes different if cut in a different way ... probably I could be a bit quirky but find that :-
- Tomatoes don't taste the same if cut into segments rather than slices
- Melon balls appear to be more juicy than segments.
- Love oranges sliced so you can stretch it out, rather than putting a whole piece in your mouth.
- Full chicken breast doesn't taste as good as sliced chicken breast.
Lots of other things I am sure .. strange, could be just me ?

This is just an example of the couldn't care less attitude of a lot of employees today. The price of the food is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned, the point is it should be served up properly. It takes no longer to slice meat correctly than lobbing a chunk off, just smacks of laziness

Sycamore Farm in Lowerhouse(near Rosegrove) does a cracking carvery...according to the missus who lunches out there on regular ocassions. not as cheap as some but never the less great. It is a really popular place with an excellent childrens area, we went the day after Boxing Day and the wait for a table was nearly 2hrs ( we did`nt bother) and they were lining up on the car park as we left........maybe the credit crunch hadn`t hit Burnley then........ and i`m sure if you ask them nicely they will carve the meat to match the size of your gob!!!!

I agree. Who wants to be faced with a whole cow for their dinner?
Why can't they serve meat in manageable slices?

thanx for the advice about the carvery in Burnley, its nice to know other people can give us 'thicko's' a heads up about a decent restaurant

A good chef would have an idea of the thickness of a piece of meat that would suit most people's tastes without complaint ... just lack of training too.
A better chef would ask if you wanted it 'thick or thin' .. mind you, would have loved to know what Flashy's reply to this question would be ...
