Bronte Parsonage, Haworth

Been there today with Kels and my Dad; not been in a good few years and was very impressed with how much it has improved. Loads more exhibits now and very informative. Even has locks of hair and dresses plus the dogs collars ( must have been some big dogs !). It's got a real atmosphere about the place, you look out of the windows over the churchyard and wonder about the way those girls must have lived; the whole 6 Bronte children died before their dad, apparently not unusual back then , and not one of them reached 40.
Nice place Haworth, full of original buildings and good shops.
Great pub too, the Fleece on the main street, good pub lunch ,Timothy Taylors ale and a real fire.
Well worth a visit.

I went a couple of weeks ago to Haworth,first time in ages,the Parsonage was closed,but still had a lovely visit

A few of the shops were closed today but I guess it's early in the season. The place was lovely and quiet, only saw 1 lot of American tourists ! If you "gift aid" your admission fee you can reuse your ticket as many times as you want for a year !

We used to love going to Howarth, kids used to stand on the bridge when the steam trains came in

About 15 years ago some git in an icecream van tried to charge me 30p for some hundreds an thousands on top of me cone in Howarth, he got told an I aint been back since.

not been for about 7 yrs now, lovely place, used to go often, bumped into P.J.Proby one sunday afternoon, he was apparently living there at that time.

Used to visit Haworth often when the kids were little, they loved the steam railway particularly around Christmas time. I had an aunty who lived there, sadly she died a few years ago and we've not been back since

The story of the Bronte family is very interesting and very sad. A visit to the parsonage is always informative and can be a quite moving experience, especially if you think back to how it must have been to have lived there at the time.

Agreed there TM, there was a real atmosphere about the place yesterday, all the trees were coated in thick white frost, it was bitterly cold and there was a funeral taking place in the church, you couldn't have scripted it better. Wouldn't have been at all suprised to see something out of the ordinary happen !
