Re: Calling people of Accrington!

Thanks to everyone who came down to chat to us on Tuesday - we received some great feedback which we'll be taking into account over the next couple of weeks. It was good to get some positive response and hear your own ideas too! It's been really helpful working for the people and basing our proposals on what you guys think the town needs. We've learned a lot so far!

Re: Calling people of Accrington!

It was good to talk to you and actually feel that someone was interested instead of people knocking suggestions and saying they would never get off the ground because they wouldn't be profitable. Hope you guys can come to the AccyWeb meet.

Re: Calling people of Accrington!

Just had a search about and found the thread for the meet. Afraid I can't make it this week - Sunday's aren't good days for me - but have a great evening! Hopefully we'll catch up with you guys again soon...

You may recognise us from last week...we were dressed as perculiar halloween characters - and were interested to hear what YOU want in Accy.

Next week we will be able to show you the product of the inspiration you provided us with, and will have our ideas available for discussion. Let us know what you really think - good or bad - we want to make a difference!

Hope to see you there...

the only way you can seriously debate the future of accrington is join in with local politics not hang about with a crowd of students who are using you as an experiment get in the real world theyre just probably takin the **** they have no real influence round here the only people round here with influence round here are the local politicions so instead of wasting your time throwing puddings lobby the local puddins

Thumbs up Calling people of Accrington!

Why so negative?

Throwing black puddings is certainly more entertaining than posting negative, unhelpful comments on this site. Local politics has been very important to our student group, having consulted with residents, councillors and shopkeepers among many others. Our final outcomes will be presented to the council and it is up to them whether they take them seriously.

We are not taking the **** but are in fact taking this project very seriously - as have the majority of locals that we have spoken too.

It is sad that our fresh attempts at engaging with the people of Accrington have been met with hostility and negativity from a few individuals.

This opportunity for positive change may turn out to be unsuccessful and shelved by the council - But is it really so difficult to have a positive attitude to the work we are doing?

Re: Calling people of Accrington!

Don't let the cynics get you down. If they are happier beng miserable leave them to it. Some people can't seem to be able to tell the difference between constructive criticism (which we all do at some time or other and which I feel is valid and should be encouraged) and misery-guts whingeing which gets nobody anywhere.

I for one do hope that the council takes on board one or more of the ideas and we can start to climb upwards instead of allowing ourselves to be sucked further into a black hole.

Some of those ideas looked so "Wow!" that perhaps people can't believe that we can have something as good as that here but if other towns can do it why can't we?
